Overview

The former representative, Masaji Shimada, opened the “Koriyama Goldfish Museum” at his own expense after realizing that there were no tourist facilities in Japan where visitors could come and see goldfish all year round. The preservation society consists of original goldfish species, high-grade goldfish, and a small number of goldfish enthusiasts in various parts of Japan. The museum exhibits around 40 kinds of goldfish, including precious varieties that have been protected from extinction by devoted members of goldfish associations.
