Overview

The Tenshudai (castle tower base), which sits in the center of Koriyama Castle, is a popular spot among locals as a place for enjoying hikes, taking in great scenery, learning history, and viewing cherry blossoms. In 2011, the “Koriyama Castle Tenshudai Area Scenic Overlook of the Castle Ruins and Nara Basin” was registered as a Nara Prefecture Landscape Asset. However, as disfigurement and damage of the stone walls had accelerated in recent years, the Tenshudai stone walls were repaired and facilities landscaped to prevent any falling of stones. Visitors can now safely climb the Tenshudai and experience the historical view or Koriyama Castle and Nara’s un-spoilt landscape.
